The importance of routine

Routine. We all have one, whether we know it or not. And having a routine that serves us is important no matter what the goal is.

Does this sound familiar.

You wake up one day and decide that you want to lose weight.

You're all motivated, so you join a gym, go on a diet and begin to make some quick progress.

And then after a few weeks, the progress slows, and then stops, and you're no longer motivated, and you stop.

You fall back into old habits, and reverse all the progress you've just made.

And then, when you decide its time to start again, it becomes harder to push yourself, because in the back of your mind you know 'this does't work'

Why?

Because you didn't give it time to build a new routine.

You pushed too hard in the gym, and ate too little And now you feel like crap.

That's the stage I'm in right now. I’m struggling to get into a new routine. It’s the initial effort of getting off of the couch and back into the same routine I had before the honeymoon, and that's the struggle that most of us face at the beginning of anything new. When we start, and we're super motivated, its easy. But then the motivation begins to falter, and we fall back into old habits and routines because we haven't given it time to build new ones.

But stick with it.

It'll be worth it in the long run.
