Aim for progress, not perfection

Aim for progress, not perfection.

It sounds just like one of those bullshit 'cookie cutter' responses people throw around for the hell of it, instead of giving proper advice to a problem. Aim for progress, not perfection.

It's kind of like saying aim for 1% improvement each day, or take everything one step at a time. On the face of it, it all sounds like a bunch of bullshit. Just one of those things people say when they have nothing else to say.

But what does it actually mean?

I guess it could mean different things to different people. But what they think is wrong, and I'll tell you the right thing... (If I could put smileys into the blog here, I'd put diagonal smiley with a D for a mouth and a X for eyes)

To me, this means setting a goal, and understanding that it takes time, and it will probably take more time than you thought.

Now,

Most people will give up on something when they don't get what they want. They won't see the big picture. They wont see all the progress they've made, and they'll revert, and fall back to where they started.

They're too focused on 'perfection'.

On the end goal.

See, you need to remember where you started. You need to know that no matter how long it takes you to get to a goal, every day you're making progress. Every day you're getting closer and closer.
