Running is bad for you...

Running is bad for you... Rerally? This is what I overheard someone say. This same person then went on to say how even walking fast was bad. I couldnt believe it. Now I do feel obliged to mention that this individual looked severly overweight, so maybe running wasnt in their best interest... I doubt their heart could take it to be honest. But to snub any kind of Cardiovascular exercise? I mean there's a reason your that size mate! Because you dont put the effort in.

Just know that running isnt bad for you. Perhaps if youre new to exercise you should build yourself up to it. When i first finished university, and was borderline obese, i couldnt run twenty meters before i was panting out of breath. Fitness and health isnt something that comes overnight, but just to give up like these people had? There's no excuse.

So, you're like me. Youve finished uni. Cheap student nights and too many pot noodles have led to a dangerous BMI. You want to lose weight. How?

The first step to losing weight, before you buy those fancy running shoes and matching gym kit youve seen in that popular shop that everybody goes to is diet. If we were to put a figure on it, 70% of the process is diet, 30% is exercise. When you think of it like that, saying i can eat what i want because ive been to the gym today just doesnt make sense anymore.

Most of you (myself included) have thought of the word diet as a bit of a dirty word. 75% of the word is DIE for christ's sake. But it doesnt have to be.

Make small changes to begin with. Swap white for wholemeal, trade coke for diet coke.

The biggest thing is hydration. Cut out the sugery drinks, replace them with diet versions if you have to, but also drink plenty of water. And i mean plenty. it should be high to your back teeth. You;ll be running to the loo every five minutes, but thats just extra cardio right? *insert winkey smiley right here*

Next, cut down on the chocolate. Aye, treat yourself every once in a while. If its treating its not cheating. But make sure it is a treat. When suger cravings hit, i like Clementines. M&S Easy peelers are the best. Sweet. Juicy. Satisfy suger cravings and tantalise those tastebuds.

Make small changes to begin with. More often than not (and by this i mean in my own expirence) folks make massive life altering changes and give up after a week because its too hard. This is the end game, but its a (to use a metaphore... i hate metaphores) marathon, not a sprint. Make small changes, begin to lose weight and see a difference and build up to the big changes.
